If you are in the ski shop turn the pole upside down, hold underneath the basket and check that the elbow is at a right angle (90º).
If poles are too short when skiing you will be out of balance forward when you pole to turn.
If the poles are too long you will have to lean back to compensate and you will be pushed onto the tails of the skis.
Ski poles increase in length in increments of 5 cm. Most ski poles can be cut down (shortened).
Cost of ski poles is relative to quality of alloy and fibers used.
